Meet at 1pm Brookside, near Lensfield Road. We’ll explore the neighbouring North, the Riverside and we’ll take time to enjoy Milton Country Park. The route will be: Cambridge – Fen Ditton – Baits Bite Lock – Horningsea – Clayhithe – Waterbeach -Landbeach – Milton – towards Baits Bite Lock – Fen Road -Milton Country Park- Cam – Cambridge. We’ll be back in Cambridge around 4.30pm. Please bring lights, and in good weather bring water and a picnic!

Sun 10 Ride Leisurely Ride

Route will be: Trumpington Road new path to Trumpington – Grantchester – Canteloupe Farm Road – 3 miles to Haslingfield on very quiet road – Turn right towards Barton – Straight across the A road into Barton Village – (optional Tea at Barton Tea Rooms) – If energy go to Coton, otherwise straight back via Barton Road.
Fri 15 Play for older children
Jam-packed with action and adventure, this vibrant and very funny family show follows three intrepid detectives as they attempt to save Le Tour de France from the evil Phantom Cyclist. Intended for older children, it uses live music, real bicycles and large interactive video sequences shot on location to recreate a mad dash across France. With the future of the world’s most famous cycle race in jeopardy, can our heroes reach Paris first and save the day? See here for more information.
Sat 16 Maintenance ‘Bicycle Wheel Building’ – 1-day workshop
This is a practical workshop where you learn to lace, build and true bicycle wheels. Even if you don’t intend building a wheelset straight away, the skills you learn here are equally applicable to replacing broken spokes, or tuning up an existing wheelset for optimum durability. Loan components (hubs, spokes and rims) are provided, or you can build your own. A very satisfying and useful day. See here for more information.

Fri 5 Subgroup Tour of proposed SuperCAM route
Members of the Campaign will be walking along part of the route of the proposed new SuperCAM project. Meet at Cambridge station at 6pm.
Sun 7 Subgroup Obstructions Subgroup
2pm at 35 Ainsworth Street. The main purpose of the meeting will be to discuss our forthcoming meeting with Clare Rankin, Cycling & Walking Officer at the City Council.
Wed 10 Subgroup Station area discussion meeting
7.30pm. A meeting will be held at James Woodburn’s house, 140 Cherry Hinton Road, to work towards a letter outlining what the Campaign believes ought to happen in the Cambridge Station area.

27 May until 6 June. At the Central Library. On display will be entries to the Art Competition, bicycle curios and you can find out more about Cambridge Cycling Campaign. Highlights of the exhibition can be viewed at the Environmental Resources room in the Guildhall during Bike Week and the month of July.

Sat 15 Ride Three Rides to the Children’s Festival
When: 12 noon
Where: Starting from:
1. The playground in Dudley Rd, Fen Ditton.
2. Outside the Golden Hind pub on Milton Rd.
3. On Cherry Hinton High St. on the corner of Chelwood Rd.
These rides will be lead by experienced cyclists ending up at the Children’s Festival on Jesus Green. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For route details call Clare Rankin on 01223 457108.
Sat 15 Dr. Bike and Cycle Security Coding
When: 10am to 3pm Where: Guildhall Street, Cambridge (near the Petty Cury corner of Market Square). Does your bike creak? Do you feel like you’re always going up-hill? A well maintained bike is a joy to ride! Let Dr. Bike administer a free 29-point safety check; you will receive a voucher for discounted repair at many local bike shops. Police are offering security coding of cycles.

Sat 21 ‘In Town Without My Car!’
As part of the national ‘In Town Without My Car!’ day, the Campaign will be in town assisting with free Cycle Safety Checks and Security Coding – Trading Standards and the Police will check your bike over and give it a security code free of charge between 10am-4pm. Come and see them in Guildhall Street – just off Market Square and Petty Cury. If you have your bicycle safety checked you can receive further discounts at local cycle shops. You can also enter a raffle for a year’s worth of bike services from the Bikeman.

To mark the opening of the direct link to Norwich we shall be travelling on the 10:55am service, arriving at Norwich at 12:08, returning 16:33 to arrive back in Cambridge at 17:44. A public exhibition of new proposals for Mitcham’s Corner will be held at the School Hall of Milton Road Infant & Junior Schools on Friday 22nd, 6.30-8.30pm and on Saturday 23rd, 11am-3pm.
Sat 23 Maintenance ‘Bicycle Wheel Building’ – 1-day workshop
10am-5pm. A practical workshop where you learn to lace, build and true bicycle wheels. Equally applicable to replacing broken spokes, or tuning up an existing wheelset for optimum durability. Our guest speaker, Brian Smith, Director of Environment & Transport at Cambridgeshire County Council will be speaking on the subject of Safer Routes to Schools; Patrick Joyce, who is the Cycling Project Officer, will also be present.
