Granta Mill cyclists mixing with diners?

Bella Italia, the restaurant in Granta Mill on Newnham Road, has applied for permission to put 19 tables and 38 chairs in the narrow gap outside its entrance. The trouble is, this is public highway, a public right of way, and, of course, a cycle route through to the two links across Coe Fen to Lammas

20mph receiving high levels of support

As 20mph speed limits start to come into place in the wider Chesterton area following earlier consultation, the City's East Area committee met last week and reviewed the proposals for phase 2 in the east of the city which met with overwhelming public support.

City council apparently charges extra to keep bikes in their garages

We have been sent a copy of a letter from a tenant of one of the City Council's garages telling them that they have to pay extra – £7 extra a week – if they want to use their garage for bikes instead of a car (or motorbike).

Hills Road southbound closed week of 12 August

Hills Road south of the railway is to be resurfaced in sections over several weeks starting Monday 12 August. During that time, there will only be a northbound (towards the city) traffic lane open. The cycleway on the west side is not affected, but while the northernmost section is done there won't be any way to get to

Cyclescape to replace discussion mailing lists

Cambridge Cycling Campaign members will hopefully have seen from our newsletters that we have been developing an alternative to our mailing lists, called Cyclescape.

We are proposing to switch to using Cyclescape instead of our discussion mailing lists around the middle of August 2013. Our committee has already been using it for some time.
