Bella Italia, the restaurant in Granta Mill on Newnham Road, has applied for permission to put 19 tables and 38 chairs in the narrow gap outside its entrance. The trouble is, this is public highway, a public right of way, and, of course, a cycle route through to the two links across Coe Fen to Lammas Land and to Mill Lane.
There were already some, and we aren't sure what their status was: we suspect they shouldn't have been using it previously and are trying to regularise the situation, and add more tables.
Objections need to be submitted to PolicyandRegulation@cambridgeshire.gov.uk by 30 April.
