2.30pm – 5.30pm Saturday 18 January 2020
Clay Farm Centre, Hobson Square, Cambridge CB2 9FN
Join us at the Camcycle AGM to inspire your campaigning, share your thoughts, find out how you can get involved, meet new people or simply find out more about who we are and what we do. The theme for the day is ‘Cycling for All’ to support our campaign focus for our 25th anniversary year. As well as looking forward, we’ll review the past year and present Camcycle awards to celebrate those who have gone the extra mil for more, better and safer cycling.
Guest speaker Rachel Aldred
Back by popular demand is Dr Rachel Aldred, our AGM guest speaker.
Rachel is Director of the Active Travel Academy and Reader in Transport at the University of Westminster. Rachel has ten years’ experience of researching active travel, and has made contributions to the field in areas including conceptualising and calculating active travel potential, developing methods for evaluation research, near miss studies, applying epidemiological methods to active travel injury risk, and exploring cultures of active travel, including processes of stigmatisation and marginalisation. She has published more than 25 peer-reviewed papers in these areas, and was in 2016 awarded the ESRC Prize for Outstanding Impact in Public Policy. Rachel recently made a short film “Cycling for All” in partnership with Wheels for Wellbeing, featuring Cambridge and Camcycle.
Join our board of trustees
If you have been thinking about taking on a leadership role, then now is the time to get in touch for a chat. Meet with our Executive Director or one of our trustees to find out what responsibilities come with trusteeship and the work that we expect will be required next year. People of all skills and background are welcome, but this year we are particularly encouraging nominations from women, young people (over 18), people from BAME backgrounds, parents and those with mobility impairments. We’d also especially welcome members with communications, HR, or legal experience to join our board. You do not need to have campaigning experience but you must be passionate about our cause. It’s an exciting time to be involved with Camcycle as in 2020 we introduce our new strategy and celebrate our 25th anniversary.
Help make the AGM run smoothly
We’re also looking for volunteers to help on the day of the AGM. Please get in touch if you can help with:
- refreshment set up and pack down
- set up and pack down of the space (chairs, tables etc.)
- ‘checking in’ attendees and issuing relevant papers
- buying or baking cakes and biscuits for the morning tea.
