Weekly Update – 21 October

In this week's update: Another hurdle for the Chisholm Trail, a great video about Cambridge's propensity to cycle and don't forget your cycling jacket submissions for our next edition of 'Camcycle'. We also have several upcoming events as well as some volunteering opportunities, from one-off help for the AGM, to a larger project like planning the Reach Ride.

Yet another hurdle for the Chisholm Trail

Prior to a formal planning meeting, the City Council will hold a 'Development Control Forum' on Wednesday (26 Oct) to discuss "Chisholm Trail (phase one)". This follows the submission of a petition and 71-page objection letter by 'Friends of Coldhams Common'. In response, we submitted a counter-petition which gives us the right to speak.

This is a public meeting and will be held in the Guildhall at 10am. We need support to ensure that Councillors have continued confidence in this project and are not deflected by a small but determined group who believe there is no justification for either the bridge or the route. If you can attend, we encourage you to do so.

The meeting agenda is on the City Council website. You can also help us prepare our presentation for the meeting by contributing on Cyclescape.

Your thoughts about cycling jackets

Following the success of our cycle lights special, in the forthcoming edition of 'Camcycle' we're sharing our members' views on the best (and worst) cycling jackets. There is a certain chill in the air and your advice on how to stay warm is welcome. Please send your responses to this email.

Is there a cycling issue that is bothering you or is there something you wish to celebrate? Please write about it for our newsletter.

Newsletter copy deadline: 30 October

Space for Cycling Roadshow visits Cambridge

Don't forget the Space for Cycling roadshow on Saturday the 22 October. Please ensure you register your interest if you plan to attend.

Volunteering

We've seen some great updates to our newsletter over the last few months, but unfortunately one of our layout volunteers is leaving Cambridge. We are now looking for a new volunteer to help with the newsletter for every second edition (3 per year). Do you have the skills to help?

We are also seeking volunteers to help with the tea & coffee set up for the AGM. Please get in touch if you can help.

We have now received funding for the 2017 Reach Ride event. Would you like to be a part of the planning committee for our most famous annual event? Please get in touch or join the Reach Ride discussion on Cyclescape.

Have you thought about joining our Board of Trustees. Nominations close on the 21 November. You can find out more online.
