Consultations we are working on
Ross Street Cycle Parking
The City Council are proposing to install cycle parking on Ross Street in the free road space by the old entrance to the Ross Street Community Centre. Consultation closes on the 12th of September. We will be responding in support of this proposal. The consultation notice has been uploaded to Cyclescape.
We requested better cycle parking for Albert House (Young Street) development
We responded to the proposal for a new development with residential apartments and a commercial unit on the Albert House site on Young Street in Cambridge (CB1 2LZ). We have encouraged developers to provide more than the bare minimum for residents' cycle parking and commented on the complete lack of provision for staff and customers of the commercial unit. We must aim for more in a cycling city like Cambridge. You can follow the discussion on Cyclescape.
We recommended improvements to taxi licensing
We responded to the City Council consultation on taxi licensing and made recommendations for improved driver training, follow-up to complaints and updating driver knowledge on new road signage and regulations. You can read our response in full online.
We responded to Abbey-Chesterton Bridge planning application:
We submitted our response to the Abbey/Chesterton bridge planning application. You can read it in full online. Unfortunately the planning application for the Chisholm Trail has not yet been made available which has caused some issues with responses from us and a number of other groups as it is hard to assess each application in isolation.
We believe the reference number for the Chisholm Trail planning application will be C/5007/16/CC and should be published soon on the County Council planning website.
Don't forget these consultations:
Ross Street Cycle Parking (Closes 12th September)
City Deal Peak Time congestion proposals (Closes 10th October)
Do you like your cycle lights?
We want to know what you like and what you don’t about your bike lights. We’d like to include our members' opinions in the next Newsletter, which will be out just in time for those darker autumn evenings. You can let us know via email, Facebook or Twitter.
We also like to include our members' product reviews of their favourites cycling accessories. Please get in touch if you would like to contribute.
Collaboration with local artists and photographers
We are planning to produce and sell gift cards and postcards to raise funds for our campaigning activities and we would like to collaborate with local artists and photographers to create the imagery. Please get in touch if you or someone you know would like to work with us on this project.
