Next week the project report, and officer recommendations, for the Chisholm Trail will be discussed by the City Deal Assembly.
We are very pleased to see the proposals include an underpass beneath Newmarket Road with an almost direct route to the proposed river bridge along the edge of Ditton Meadows.
The project report says:
“Its guiding objective has been to make as attractive and traffic free a route as possible which can appeal to every kind of user including everyday cyclists, novices, pedestrians and those with wheelchairs or buggies”
The officer report says:
“Added benefits of the project are the promotion of multi modality, the opening up and linking of green spaces, and the possible creation of pocket parks giving scope for public art and other initiatives and projects.”
We are pleased to see the details of the proposed routes using spare arches beneath Mill Road bridge and believe these sections could be completed early.
Jim will speak at the Assembly meeting highlighting the economic benefits of the route, and there should be full public consultation in the Autumn.
