10am-5pm. This is a practical course where you learn how to assemble and true strong and durable bicycle wheels. You will learn to build ‘standard’ (36 spoke cross-3) rear wheels, using proven wheel building skills based on sound principles. Places are restricted to six to ensure a high teacher-student ratio. Mon 1 Closure of Cycle Bridge at the Station for one month for works
The Cycle Bridge at the station will be closed for one month from 1st August, for a half a million pound facelift. This will add a new floor and glazing to both ends of the bridge and extra ventilation. A signed diversionary route will be set up via Devonshire Road – Tenison Road – St Barnabas Road – Mill Road – Stockwell Street – Rustat Road for both pedestrians and cyclists.

Meet at 1pm at Hobbs Pavilion on Parker’s Piece. Trailblazing ride to discover the area towards Wicken Fen where a regional landmark “Bridge of Reeds” may be built in the next few years. The route will follow the river to Fen Ditton, and after a short off-road section to Anglesey Abbey for refreshements. Returning via some more short off road sections to the river at Baits Bite lock and back into Cambridge on the newly resurfaced towpath. We shall ride at a leisurely pace and won’t leave anyone behind. (Some photos taken during this event are now online.)

Sun 11th ’10 in10′ National Cycle Network Celebrations
Logo Events are being organised by Sustrans from 10th-12th September around the country, to celebrate the Grand Opening of the National Cycle Network. The main event will be held in Cambridge on 11th September, celebrating ten years and 10,000 miles of National Cycle Network with cycle rides to Cambridge and various activities on Jesus Green. Mon 12 Driven to Extinction: Sustrans Conference

Followed by mince pies and fireside mulled wine at a member’s house off Mill Road in Romsey. Remember to bring your lights!
