Question 15 - we asked:

Some cyclists have told us they feel unsafe riding over the A14 Histon junction, because of crossing the exit roads down onto the A14, and along Histon Rd, because of its narrowness. Do you support measures to improve safety for cyclists in these two areas?

We asked this question in these 3 wards: Arbury, Histon & Impington, King's Hedges.

3 of the 11 candidates (27%) who were asked this question responded as below.

Jonathan Peter CHATFIELD
(Liberal Democrat)

I feel unsafe riding over the A14 junction! The speed of cars as the two lanes merge into one on Histon Road is another issue that needs to be addressed. I fully support the need for improvements in this area.

(Liberal Democrat)

Opportunities should arise to improve provision for cyclists along this route when work to provide the guided bus route reaches Cambridge and as the plans for the new development on the NIAB site are finalised. I will encourage the County council to ensure that adequate safe provision is made for cyclists as these works proceed.

Michael Hal PITT
(Liberal Democrat)

I must confess to ignorance on this issue, and it appears not to have been raised with Cllr Neale Upstone. If elected I would be happy to discuss this issue with the campaign and see what I can do to help.
