TAKE ACTION! Support a safer, greener Mill Road

A parent and child cycling up to Mill Road bridgeThe long 6-month consultation period on the Mill Road bus gate scheme closes on Thursday 24 December. The closure of the bridge to through motor traffic has opened up the street for safer walking and cycling and efficient bus journeys, and reduced pollution along the road. Camcycle would like to see the trial continue in 2021.

It’s important that everyone that supports the scheme tells the county council so that the experiment can be effectively measured and popular changes made permanent. Please make sure you respond today, taking action using at least one of the methods below.

  • Cleaner air
  • Reliable buses
  • 24/7 car access
    each side of the bridge
  • A safer, more sociable street

  • Pavement improvements
  • Planters and seating
  • A new shuttle bus
  • Better disability and delivery access
  • More cycle parking

TAKE ACTION ON MILL ROAD 1: Respond to the consultation by email

Send comments by email to policyandregulation@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.

We encourage you to:

  • Support the principle of closing the bridge to through-traffic, thereby opening it up for safer walking, cycling and more reliable buses
  • Ask for changes to the scheme – see the points above, or read more about changes we would like to see.

TAKE ACTION ON MILL ROAD 2: Fill in the council’s online survey

Cambridgeshire County Council’s consultation survey asks about your views and improvements that should be made – it only takes a few minutes to complete.

TAKE ACTION ON MILL ROAD 3: Write to councillors

Please write to the elected councillors for Petersfield and Romsey. The county councillor for each area is most appropriate, but city councillors would no doubt welcome views. Feel free to write to your own local councillor too, if you live in Cambridge.
