Camcycle, the Cambridge Cycling Campaign, is delighted to announce the appointment of Anna Williams as our new Communications and Community Officer. Williams joins our Executive Director, Roxanne De Beaux, as the cycling charity’s second employee and will be responsible for internal and external communications across the organisation and supporting and growing its community of members and volunteers.
De Beaux says, “It’s so exciting to see Camcycle grow. The demand for our advice and representation continues to increase as Cambridge encounters more and more transportation issues related to ongoing development. We also intend to improve our proactive campaigning efforts, increase our membership and encourage more volunteers and Anna’s role will be essential for these activities. Further growth is also in store for Camcycle as we plan to launch our paid internship programme this summer and seek additional match funding for a third part-time employee who we hope will join us before the end of the year.”
Williams joins Camcycle with a range of marketing communications skills gained across both the commercial and charitable sectors and experience working with volunteers in local environmental organisations. She has been a member of the campaign for over 15 years and has several years’ experience working on volunteer projects with the charity including writing and design for the monthly magazine, the organisation’s main campaigning tool.
She says, “As a keen everyday cyclist and mother of three, I love Cambridge’s unique cycling culture, but am aware there is still a lot of work to be done to make cycling facilities better for all ages and abilities. I’m looking forward to working with Camcycle’s team of volunteers to build on their impressive record of local achievements, sharing a positive vision of cycling through exciting events like our flagship Reach Ride and liaising with local stakeholders to deliver safer cycling infrastructure across the city.”
