October Monthly Meeting – Velo Sister and diversity in cycling

CANCELLATION: unfortunately the planned speaker (see below) has been forced to cancel for urgent personal reasons. The meeting will instead be a discussion of topical cycling issues in Cambridge.

Our October monthly meeting will be on Tuesday 4th at the Friends' Meeting House. We will be hearing from entrepreneur Nic Fox who created online store Velo Sister to meet a need for diversity in cycling apparel. A percentage of the stores profits support a range a charities including Wheels for Wellbeing and Racing Chance Foundation.

Nic is also going to talk about her new diversity campaign which aims to showcase the people who cycle who don’t fit the young, slim, white, able-bodied, lycra-wearing stereotype, and ideally in a way that inspires other people to do the same. She is collecting their cycling stories, finding out how they cycle, why they cycle, why they like it, what their challenges are and what got them interested in cycling. We look forward to seeing you from 7:30pm for refreshments with the meeting starting at 8pm.
