Weekly update – 24th March

Our weekly campaigning update.

Monthly Meeting

The next monthly meeting is on Tuesday 5th April, 7:30 for 8pm at Friends Meeting House, Park Street. Our speaker will be from Cambridge Connect. Come and hear about their Light Rail proposals and how that would interact with cycling in Cambridge. We'll also have our regular open forum, where you can bring issues to the attention of the campaign and ask for help and advice with campaigning.

Reach Ride Volunteers

Thank you to everyone that offered to volunteer after last week's email. We really do appreciate this. We can though always use more help to distribute the leaflets, and if you can take leaflets or posters for your workplace, window or anywhere else public we'd love to hear from you. We will have a supply of the leaflets at the monthly meeting.

We also need a few volunteers to help with marshalling on the day to make sure everyone knows where they are going and no-one is left behind. A reccie ride will be held on the 30th of April to show marshals the route. We are hoping to have new Camcycle branded T-shirts for volunteers.

Events Calendar for 2016 & 2017

We are preparing a calendar of events to help us better plan our Campaign activities. Do you know of any events where we should have a stall bike? Or perhaps you have ideas for other ways we can engage with the public. Please share your ideas on our Events Cyclescape thread or in a reply email.

West Cambridge Pre-Planning Application

The University's West Cambridge site will be expanding, with a planning application expected in a couple of months. Before this we are commenting on the current state of cycle infrastructure on the site, and improvements that could be made within the site and connections to the site.

Discuss the issues in our West Cambridge site masterplan Cyclescape thread.

In the News

In this week's life in the cycle lane Robin suggests some places to go this weekend – and a few that could be easier to get to by cycle.

Save the date – Campaign Social

Our next campaign social will be on the Monday, 18th of April at CB2.

This is a great chance to catch up with other campaigners, especially if you are new to the Campaign. If you haven't attended before you can reply to this email so that we will know to look out for you.

You can join in the planning of our social events on Cyclescape. Let us know what you would like from a social catch up.
