Today at the Economy and Environment Committee meeting the Abbey-Chesterton Cycling & Walking Bridge was approved to proceed to planning application stage. The recommendation was for a hybrid design of options 1 and 2 from the bridge consulations.
The Campaign submitted a petition with 1661 signatures urging the committee to support this crucial link in the Chisholm Trail.
At least seven members of the Committee spoke in favour of the Bridge. The City Council was also represented by Councillor Martin Smart who expressed the Council's support for the bridge. A number of notes from councillors in the City and County Councils were also submitted to the committee.
Only one member voted against the bridge.
The Cambridge Cycling Campaign thanks all those who signed our petition and the volunteers who assisted with the Campaign.
