A number of cycle-related schemes are currently under way in and around Cambridge.

Coldham’s Lane Pedestrian Cycleway Bridge – forming a new structure on the south side of the existing bridge – is due for completion mid May this year. We hope to be able to cover the opening of the Milton Cycle and Pedestrian Bridge next Newsletter.

The Councils are waiting for the soil on Coe Fen to drain, so that construction can start on the Coe Fen Route with the minimum of damage caused to the area. This route will provide an alternative route, parallel to Trumpington Road, linking up with National Cycle Network route 11 to the south.

Further ahead, the Cutter Ferry Footbridge remains closed. Since Gareth Guest’s article last Newsletter, the Council has now decided that replacing the span across the river looks like the best option, having determined that ‘Temporary or permanent repairs were not technically feasible’. We are, of course, keen that the replacement should be suitable for cyclists to ride across.
