On 17 November the Economy and Environment Committee approved the Abbey-Chesterton Cycling & Walking Bridge to proceed to planning application stage. The recommendation was for a hybrid design of options 1 and 2 from the bridge consultations.

The Campaign submitted a petition with 1,661 signatures urging the committee to support this crucial link in the Chisholm Trail.

At least seven members of the Committee spoke in favour of the bridge. A number of notes from councillors in the city and county councils were also submitted to the committee. Only one member of the Economy and Environment Committee voted against the bridge.

The Cambridge Cycling Campaign thanks all those who signed our petition and the volunteers who assisted.
