The Cycle Friendly Employer scheme is to be changed from September. It will be subsumed into a wider ‘green travel’ scheme working with companies to seek more travel by bus, train, walking and possibly car-sharing, as well as cycling. The Cycle Friendly Employer scheme will retain its identity within the broader scheme.
In September, too, Anne Taylor, the present Cycling Co-ordinator, will leave the project. Therefore we will be appointing a new project worker to run the wider scheme. The arrangements are similar – the employer is the Health Authority, based at Fulbourn, and funding will largely come from the County’s Travelwise programme and the City Council, with the Health Authority contributing office facilities, and the Cycling Campaign (and possibly other agencies now) volunteer effort.
The job will be advertised in the week of June 13, with applications to be received by July 4. Interviews will be held (provisionally) on July 22. The post is on grade A&C6, which translates to a little over £17,000 p.a. Initially we can only guarantee funding for 6 months, but it is almost certain that the scheme will run until at least Spring 1999.
