Bike Week 2010Bike Week events – get pedalling this summer!

Cycle Cambridge, in conjunction with the Campaign, have organised a number of events for Bike Week:

Free cycle hire and free swimming!

During Bike Week (19 to 27 June) there will be free cycle hire* and free swimming for cyclists at Abbey pool*, along with bike rides and competitions.

(*limited to 100 swims and 100 cycle hires per day. You will be required to fill in a short form to participate)

Sat 12 and Sun 13 June – Bike Fair

10am to 6pm on Parker’s Piece, attractions include:

  • Cycle powered cinema (Saturday only)
  • Cycle Scalextric and fun bike try out show (Sunday only)
  • Blendavenda smoothie bar
  • Dr Bike cycle maintenance
  • Immobilise
  • Free cycling goodies
  • Variety of cycling traders

Wed 16 and Fri 25 June – Unusual history bike tour around Cambridge

Ride is from 6 – 8pm outside Guildhall

Discover the real Cambridge with local historian and Blue Badge Tour Guide Allan Brigham. Cycle past history through Cambridge’s unique green spaces from the Market Square to Cherry Hinton Hall.

Cost: £3 (accompanied children under 14 go free) Tickets available from The Cambridge Tourist Information Centre, Peas Hill.

Saturday 19 June – Dust off your Bike!

10am to 4pm at Meadows Community Centre, St Catharines Road, Arbury

Come along for FREE bicycle repairs, maintenance workshops and children’s activities.

Sunday 20 June – Ride For Joy 2, the fashion ride returns.

The Ride for Joy starts at 2.30pm at the car park next to Lammas Land, Newnham.

A free guided cycle ride around the city centre aimed at, but not exclusively for, women and girls.

New cycle path to Wandlebury – opening this summer

Ride from Cambridge to Wandlebury Country Park to celebrate the opening of the new route. More details to follow.
