Sun 15 Ride A10 Awareness Ride – A10 Cycling Campaign
15 May is the annual A10 Awareness Ride, leaving Trumpington Park and Ride at 10AM and heading to Phillimore Garden Centre at Melbourn for tea and cake. It will be a great chance to experience the new path connecting Harston-Foxton-Shepreth and the Shepreth-Melbourn stretch we hope to get done soon. Sat 11 External meeting Route Vegetables – a cycling tour of Growing Spaces
Join us for Route Vegetable, a leisurely-paced cycling tour of a selection of Cambridge Growing Spaces (a Transition Cambridge project, that aims to reclaim unloved and underused public spaces around the city of Cambridge and transform them using edible landscaping). We will be visiting small and larger spaces, older or recently created ones, and will hear from the people who tend them. Starting at Anglia Ruskin University, the tour will take you up to Norfolk Street and then north of the River for a variety of spaces, ending at the Daily Bread raised beds – which will also a be chance to stop and pick up a cuppa and slice of cake if you fancy. It is also perfect for individuals, either professionals or keen amateurs wanting to gain a full understanding of bike maintenance. Velotech is recognised by the trade such as the Bicycle Association of Great Britain as one of the leading standards in professional bike mechanics. The course runs over four days and teaches you how to strip and rebuild a bike from scratch, taking you through all the bike’s different systems in the process. Sat 3 Maintenance Basic Bike Maintenance Course
Our one-day basic course is designed for people with little or no knowledge of bike maintenance. We run this for a full day to ensure that participants leave the end of the course with the confidence to fix common problems with their bike. There is plenty of time for practise and the maximum group size is 6 with our fully trained mechanic on hand to help out and answer questions as they come up.
