Well-known local historian Mike Petty, author of Memory Lane Cambridge, Vanishing Cambridgeshire, Images of Cambridge etc, will lead a presentation on the history of cycling in Cambridge.

We will be presenting a question and short speech to the County Council at their meeting (starting 10.30am, at Shire Hall), on the subject of their motions on the Times CycleSafe campaign and the Chisholm Trail. We are hoping for cross-party support for both of these.

Sun 8 Fundraiser The Big Bike Ride
The Big Bike Ride, organised by the Cambridge News, is raising money for three local charities. Starting on Jesus Green there are two routes, the silver, family route is 20.12km and the gold route for serious cyclists is 201.2km.
Sat 21 Subgroup Orchard Park Fiesta
Cambridge Cycling Campaign will have a stall at the Orchard Park Fiesta. Help is needed to staff the stall, to promote the Campaign’s aims, recruit members and communicate the Ring Fort Path and Chisholm Trail proposals. Please help to staff the stall.
Sun 22 Fundraiser London to Cambridge bike ride
Come and enjoy a brilliant day out, and help raise vital funds for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Starting from Pickett’s Lock in north London, the London to Cambridge bike ride winds through beautiful countryside to the finish at Midsummer Common in the heart of Cambridge, where you’ll be met with music, refreshments and massage. All the double-decker racks at the station will be available and reserved for people to try, from 10am-3pm. These racks are likely to form the basis of much of the proposed station cycle park, so it’s really important people come and try them, especially with all kinds of bikes. More info…

Get ready to stretch your legs for the last Bike Events ride of the season! This was a brand new ride in 2011 and was very popular so it is being run again in 2012 – starting from Cambridge’s Coldham’s Common and heading east through a landscape of fenland and patchwork fields, finishing in Norwich.
