There are a number of issues facing cyclists in rural areas. A number of the roads are in a state of poor repair with numerous large pot holes which make cycling treacherous. Additionally within the towns there is little or no cycle paths.
The spread out nature of the Fenland towns make it very difficult to travel via cycle between the towns, the roads are busy, with large vehicles making cycling hazardous. An option would be to provide environmentally friendly local buses that had the option to take cycles.

Robert William WHITE
(Green Party)
The candidate has not responded to the survey.

As an part time cyclist myself. I fully appreciate the health benefits that this activity provides. This is coupled with the additional benefit of getting me out of the car. Cycling should be encouraged as a key part of a proper public health strategy.

Robert William WHITE
(Green Party)
The candidate has not responded to the survey.

# Question 3

Safe and responsible use of the roads is a major issue. Our view is that traffic policing, of all groups of road users (cyclists, drivers, etc.), should become a greater police priority, and that this should be evidence-based, namely based on the relative levels of danger presented by each such group. What are your thoughts, and where would your priorities be?

I fully support responsible, legal cycling in addition there needs to be further education and reminders to other road users to promote cycle awareness. Cycles should be expected on any road not just in our towns and cities.
