Question 11 - we asked:

With a new primary school coming to the Buxhall Farm site, expansion of the existing junior school to an all-through primary, and increasing transport pressure from nearby housing developments, what measures would you pursue to ensure families can make safe and healthy active journeys (walking, cycling, scooting etc) to school?

We asked this question only in Histon & Impington.

2 of the 4 candidates (50%) who were asked this question responded as below.

Those candidate(s) which were elected are highlighted.

Darren COTTERELL
(Green Party)

Actively enforce the 30mph speed limit on B1049 (Bridge Road/Water Lane/Glebe Way) with average speed cameras. Make the residential roads 20mph. Create off road cycle paths where possible. More crossing points on B1049. Make it impossible to use Station Road/Cambridge Road as a rat run by use of one way systems and making access across the guided busway for cycles only.

David JENKINS
(Liberal Democrat)

1 cycle/footbridge over the B1049 at the north end of the community
2 road access to the Buxhall Farm school from the B1049 only keeping Mill Lane free for cyclists and pedestrians
3 explore options for a safe drop off point on the B1049 at the junior school site
NOTE: at present there are no 'nearby housing developments' within the community.
