Question 27 - we asked:

The speed limit on the B1049 north of Histon Green is 40 mph. With the new cycleway in place, do you support an early speed survey to establish whether average speeds have reduced and if so push for 30 mph along that stretch?

We asked this question in these 2 wards: Cottenham, Histon & Impington.

4 of the 10 candidates (40%) who were asked this question responded as below.

Timothy John WOTHERSPOON
(Conservative Party)

not sure what "early" means. Anyway, aren't we coming up for a year now since the speed limits were reduced? That ought to have been plenty of time for traffic to settle down to new patterns of behaviour, so by all means let's get some data on current traffic flows.

Donald Allan MCBRIDE
(Green Party)

Yes I do support this initiative.

Godson LAWAL
(Labour Party)

Yes, absolutely.

Jonathan Peter CHATFIELD
(Liberal Democrat)

I am on record as already supporting 30mph throughout this section. I campaigned for 30mph south of The Green and was delighted when it was adopted. We should maintain this 30mph through the B1049 to the village exit on Cottenham Road.
