Saturday 9 December 4.30-5.30pm
Christmas is coming and the festive lights are coming out across the city! Join Camcycle and friends for an easy ride for all ages to enjoy some of Cambridge’s seasonal sparkle. We depart from New Square near the Grafton at 4.30pm and will return to Burleigh Street at 5.30pm, where you could warm up with some Italian hot chocolate at Signorelli’s or enjoy food and drink from some of the other local businesses in this area.
Your own decorations are optional, but in the past we’ve been impressed by all the ways you’ve managed to make your cycle look festive! The route is shown below. We’ll take in the city centre and Grafton Christmas trees, view the Arundel House Hotel lights from across the river, cross the Equiano Bridge on Riverside, take a tour of some residential decorations around De Freville Avenue and cycle beneath the lights on King Street.
Note that Camcycle marshals will be on hand to guide the route, but you are responsible for your own safe and legal cycling and that of any minors you are accompanying on the ride. You may join and leave the ride at any time. Please ensure you follow the Highway Code and that your bike is in a suitable condition for riding. As this is an evening ride, you must have front and back lights – see our cycle lights page for the legal requirements. We will ride at a slow and steady pace, adjusting to weather conditions where needed to minimise risks e.g. from wet paths. In extreme weather, where we judge the risk of cycling to be unsafe, we will cancel the ride. Check this page for the latest updates.
