The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) is currently consulting on proposals for a Sustainable Travel Zone for Cambridge. The consultation is open until 23 December 2022 – find more details and complete the online survey at tinyurl.com/STZ-survey
For our November monthly meeting, we invited the GCP’s Technical Director for this project, Alistair Cox, to join us. He set out an overview of the proposals and answered nearly 50 questions from meeting attendees on the scheme. People asked ‘What will be done to make streets and junctions safer?’, ‘How was the size of the zone and timing of the road charge decided?’ and ‘Why is the primary aim traffic reduction and not climate change?’ Alistair’s colleague, Nick Sanderson, answered questions about the consultation itself and how people could find out more.
The meeting also includes a short round-up of the latest cycling news from the Camcycle team.
The next Camcycle meeting is an in-person December social. It will be held on Tuesday 6 December at The Alex pub in Gywdir Street, Cambridge and is open to all. Please keep an eye on camcycle.org.uk/events for the latest information.
