Camcycle supporters grill mayoral candidates on cycling issues at online hustings

Camcycle welcomed Dr Nik Johnson (Labour and Co-operative Party) and Cllr Aidan Van de Weyer (Liberal Democrat) to answer viewers’ questions on cycling-related issues at our hustings event on Tuesday 6 April, 2021. The Conservative candidate and incumbent, James Palmer declined the invitation to attend.

Candidates introduced themselves and talked about their personal experiences of cycling before answering questions on topics including connecting rural communities, embedding active travel in new developments, cycle theft, reducing car traffic, school streets, e-scooters, the CAM metro concept and tackling climate change.

This meeting was originally held on our Facebook channel and is also available to view on YouTube.

The next Camcycle meeting will be held online on Tuesday 4 May, when we’ll be joined by a guest speaker from Voi talking about the e-scooter and e-bike scheme currently being trialled in Cambridgeshire.
