Weekly update – 11th August
Hooray! A sunny day has been forecast for our Camcycle social this Saturday at 2pm at Haymakers on Chesterton Road. Will we see you there?
Last week we mentioned our discussions for improvements to the CB1 station area. A group of members are now planning to meet to discuss these ideas for improvement before heading to the Camcycle social. More details below.
Don't forget the latest edition of 'Camcycle' for some holiday reading.
- Camcycle Summer Social
- How would you improve Cambridge Station Cycling?
- Mill Road Depot update
- Consultations and planning applications
Camcycle Summer Social
Our Summer Social will be at the Haymakers on Chesterton High Street 12 August from 2pm. All day pizzas and plenty of bike parking. All welcome!
Hopefully we can also get some lovely summery pictures to use in future weekly updates. Our fantastic photographer Lucy Price will be at the social from 2 to 3 pm and looking to take some great snaps of members and their bikes (with permission of course).
How would you improve Cambridge Station Cycling?
While the CB1 development is not yet complete, it's clear that there are significant issues for cycling. Camcycle members are planning to meet to discuss how they would fix the public space and cycling routes to, through and around the new station development. You can share your thoughts on Cyclescape 3427 or join the meeting at 12.30pm, Saturday 10 August at the station entrance.
Mill Road Depot update
Yesterday, we met with the architect and council officer working on the Mill Road Depot development to find out more about the latest plans.
We were also able to get confirmation of the proposed amount of car parking and expressed our concern at the proposal for 87% of the 230 dwellings to have car parking.
We are however, very pleased that the plans for the Chisholm Trail past the development meet expectations for a world-class route.
We've summarised the details on our website and discusssion about the development continues on Cyclescape 1912.
Consultations and planning applications
We recommend members also object if they have concerns about developments in their local area. You can contact your councillor or click on the reference number to sumbit through the planning portal.
