UPDATE: The cycleway is now reopen.
A major bicycle route will closed between Histon and Orchard Park from Midnight Friday 19th July to late on Monday 22nd July.
This is to allow maintanence vehicles to repair the slightly wonky guided busway track over the weekend. The cycleway surface may then have to be repaired after the trackway repair vehicles leave.
From Orchard Park, please travel via the B1049 / Histon Interchange to Cambridge Road. Note: this diversion has a mandatory 5 minute delay for the three toucan crossings that are not optimized for bicycle traffic.
From Histon, please travel down Cambridge Road or Bridge Road to the B1049 / Histon Interchange, and then cross over the to shared use path on the far side of the A14 exit slip and continue on the cycleway around the south of Orchard Park.
Note: through Orchard Park the very few high speed motor vehicles turning into Orchard Park have priority over the cycleway; use of the toucan crossings is encouraged.
Note: many car drivers do not signal their intention to enter the A14 or continue into Cambridge, so the entrance ramp at the A14 interchange can be a challenging place to negotiate.
Diversions for bicycle traffic have not been sign posted by the County Council.
