The Newsletter and Distribution

The bi-monthly Cambridge Cycling Campaign Newsletter is printed, in black on white with spot colour on the cover, on a very high speed laser press, a Xerox Docutech 135. It generally runs to 16 pages, but is sometimes 20, occasionally 12. We aim to produce it to a high standard, with many photographs and illustrations.

We currently print 800 copies of each newsletter, of which around half go to subscriber households. The remaining copies go to people we work with (on Steering Groups etc) or people we wish to inform or influence (local council staff etc) or are sold on our weekly stall in Cambridge Market Square.

The Electronic version is in colour (in HTML, which does not contain the commercial ads, and PDF which usually does), and is read by people all over the world.

Members' Small Ads

Members of Cambridge Cycling Campaign are welcome to place cycling-related Small Ads in our newsletter for free, as part of our service.

Please use the small adverts submission form to submit your advert.

Commercial Adverts

To reduce the cost of producing the newsletter, we offer space for commercial advertisements.

Cost and Payment

Rates are currently:

We intend to keep this proportional to the number of copies we print. So if we raise the print-run in future, we will increase advertising rates accordingly.

Payment upfront would be appreciated. Payment should be by cheque in £ Sterling, to be made payable to 'Cambridge Cycling Campaign'.

These prices assume that we are supplied with copy ready for use (see Supplying the Copy below).

We reserve the right to charge an extra fee, if we find ourselves spending more than half an hour to get an individual advert ready for inclusion.

Supplying the Copy

The deadline for the forthcoming newsletter is always listed in our Diary page.

Copy should be posted to one of the addresses below, or e-mailed to our newsletter editor, Mark Irving, irving@home.cam.net.uk.

File Formats

TIFF, PostScript, PDF or EPS files are best, but we're pretty familiar with converting from most formats to most formats. Please ask us about the required resolution of TIFF files.

For PostScript files, make sure fonts are included with the job when doing this, and if it is on a PC, make sure the resolution is set to 600dpi or higher when printing.

For other types of file, or hand drawn illustrations, it may be easiest simply to give us a paper copy and let us scan it.

Media

We can read PC and Mac floppy disks, and obviously accept e-mail attachments too - but please don't send unsolicited many-megabyte emails! We cannot guarantee to return the media, unfortunately.

Printed Copy

We also have the ability to scan camera-ready copy (e.g. laser printer or bromide), to convert to TIFF at a suitable resolution.

Conditions

We reserve the right to refuse adverts, for example, if we feel they are not in the spirit of the Aims of the Campaign, or for reasons of lack of space or time.

Inserts

We sometimes include leaflets and brochures from other organisations in our mailings to members.

For not-for-profit organisations, whose aims are consistent with our aims, we often do this free of charge.

However, commercial organisations wishing to take advantage of this service are charged £15 per insert to contribute to the time and postage costs involved.

As with adverts, we reserve the right to refuse inserts, for example, if we feel they are not in the spirit of the Aims of the Campaign, or for reasons of lack of space or time.
