Membership Drive

The Cycling Campaign is now just a few short of 400 members strong. This makes us the largest local cycling campaign group outside London! I think it is extremely encouraging that we have been able to go from nothing to 400 in just over two years. This really matters, because our legitimacy as an organisation depends on this support. We know that not everyone can take an active part in Campaign activities, but your subscription and your support make it possible for us to be a strong voice in the Cambridge area. (If you do have some time, there's lots to be done - in particular Paula would love to hear from you if you can help staff the stall.)

At the AGM in October, we set ourselves a target - to increase to 500 members by October 1998. Inevitably, people move away or for whatever reason have to drop out, so this means recruiting more than another 100 people. Over the next couple of months we'll be developing ways of attracting new members. We'll be talking to bike shops. We'll be looking at where we can contact cyclists directly. And we are looking at what we can do as an incentive for you to recruit your friends and neighbours.

But there's no need to wait. You can help in a number of ways:

And thank you all for your feedback. It's good to hear from you. And while we're not all going to agree on everything all the time, if we don't, we want to know about it.
