This is now the nearest cycle parking to the Catholic church (background), with the racks packed and bikes locked to fencing too even when there isn't a service or concert at the church.

Gate blocking the cycleway across Parker's Piece - stupid and annoying. How ridiculous to expect all cyclists to get through that narrow gap. And if this gate is to stop vehicles getting onto the green space, well it has clearly failed. ... [more]

The well used cycle racks here are unusally rather generously spaced out here. The number of racks could probably be doubled.

Conflict at the Parker's Piece gate - this little chap was dawdling and his mother wasn't paying attention.

Rush hour on Parker's Piece - a surprising number of cyclists come across the diagonal and turn left to the Gonville Place crossing.

It's interesting how many cyclists turn right here - an asphalt path on the far side of the sign would be helpful.

Conflict at the new Parker's Piece gate - the near cyclist nipped through and swerved around to the right of the cycle stands.

New gate across path reduces usable width and causes conflict between cyclists and pedestrians. Becomes even more awkward to access when taxis are parked next to it.

There's a new gate across the entry to Parker's Piece. That's right, you can't see it, it's black and there are no reflective strips.

This stunning award-winning public convenience at the edge of Parkers Piece, has plenty of cycle parking, no need to try and lock up your bike to the poles (which are widened at the bottom to stop bike parking!)

No need for hundreds of little blue signs on poles. The meaning of these logos on the pavement is perfectly clear.

Quite a lot of cyclists turn right onto the footway between Regents Terrace and Regent Street. There would actually be space for a segregated lane, but the junction at the end would be problematic.

Cyclists waiting to turn right from Regent Terrace to Gonville Place - tricky, but at least traffic speeds are mostly low. The child on the right is just sitting on the bike's rack.

On Sunday, this stretch of Regent Street is like a car park, as parking is free. But is there any cycle parking? None whatsoever.

All bollards gone at this crossing, which has reverted to a 'parallel crossing'. Note the no-right turn which is there to stop cyclists turning into pedestrians who are using the crossing to the right, right?
