Cyclists are supposed to use the pedestrian crossing 30 metres to the right and return to the same choke point - so that pedestrians can use the cycle crossing? Hardly logical.
The familiar false dichotomy - cars or pedestrians - ignoring the fact that this is above all a cycle route.
Roadworks on East Road have necessitated shifting this crossing temporarily to the left by about 20 metres. But that is so off the beaten track that it is universally ignored.

Roadworks on Pembroke Street encourage (or in some cases force) vehicles into the contraflow cycle lane.
And as usual, the signs are in the cycle lane; the camber of the pavement does provide some reason as to why this has happened ...but a reason isn't an excuse and it would be nice if these things didn't happen. Location approximate.
The text on the red sign reads "cycle lane closed […] mopeds and cyclists dismount". If we ignore the fact that mopeds are prohibited from using cycle lanes anyway and therefore shouldn't be mentioned on this sign at all, this sign sends ... [more]
Why does it take so long to get things fixed here?? 1) barriers missing for many weeks (the lights got replaced quickly)
