Cyclists are supposed to use the pedestrian crossing 30 metres to the right and return to the same choke point - so that pedestrians can use the cycle crossing? Hardly logical.
Because of roadworks, car parking has been removed from the other side of the road - but because of the way the cones are placed it gains about 1 measly foot of extra space! But it makes a decent cycle lane (apart from the fallen cone) !
The familiar false dichotomy - cars or pedestrians - ignoring the fact that this is above all a cycle route.
Works on the combined use path next to the A10 near Hauxton. Points of interest: - There is no sign indicating which utility or authority is performing the works - The recommended diversion is through wet grass and a muddy puddle - Th ... [more]
Roadworks on East Road have necessitated shifting this crossing temporarily to the left by about 20 metres. But that is so off the beaten track that it is universally ignored.
Looks like these road works will still be in place for the #ReachRide. We'll have to dismount and walk, but there's not much space. http://www.camcycle.org.uk/events/rides/

Cycling in this direction is not normally allowed. It looks like these roadworks will be in place during the #ReachRide this year. http://www.camcycle.org.uk/events/rides/
Why are some cyclists so determined to make themselves (and the rest of us) so unpopular?
Market Street is closed because of gas main works, but why temporary traffic lights are thought necessary here, I cannot imagine.
Its good to see a cycling gap in this 'road closure'. But the gap on the far side of the road does not look official.
Victoria Road is closed due to a collapsed sewer - but cyclists always find their way through.
Dreadful gas roadworks blocking the cycle path and putting both cyclists and pedestrians in danger
See #30253 Taken from the cycle bridge over the railway showing the recently lifted tracks ready for taking way to build the new platform. This will be the new location for the photos in the time lapse sequence at http://cambridge.cyclest ... [more]
Guided Busway crosses Station Road at Longstanton. Looking West. Workmen have started work on laying blacktop on the cycle path.
The "Cyclists & Moped Riders Please Dismount" sign returns to Corn Exchange Street, Cambridge
While a temporary issue, this has been in place for a couple of days and directing pretty heavy two way pedestrian and cycle traffic down a 1m wide pavement isn't ideal. I hope they get the work to a stage where they can offer a wider route ... [more]
Roadworks on Pembroke Street encourage (or in some cases force) vehicles into the contraflow cycle lane.
Cyclists Dismount on St Andrews St, Cambridge, but there is no obstruction on the road.
And as usual, the signs are in the cycle lane; the camber of the pavement does provide some reason as to why this has happened ...but a reason isn't an excuse and it would be nice if these things didn't happen. Location approximate.
The new footway under construction that will connect this pavement properly with the Cycle Bridge.
Some confusion - one sign tells pedestrians to use the footpath on the other side, but they've also put up cones to create a temporary path - which forces cars into the contraflow cycle lane.
Building this riverside promenade seems to involve moving masses of amounts of earth out of Cambridge and bringing some fresh new stuff in. Is all that really necessary?
The bridge between Brookfields and The Tins has gone - to be replaced by a wider one as part of improvements to The Tins

Cycleway upgrade preparation just north of Harston on the A10. Quite a few road works signs already up; 40 mph temporary speed limit will be enforced. Work starts 17th January for 70 days, according to signage.
Good practice, except that it's also a shared-use cycle path - but there is level access at each end. (These barriers had been waiting for repair since the summer of 2009 - see #19037 )
Get in Lane When finished this cycle lane will help cyclists get into the right position at the busy junction ahead. Its a little confusing at the moment because the roadworks force all the traffic into the cycle lane.
The text on the red sign reads "cycle lane closed […] mopeds and cyclists dismount". If we ignore the fact that mopeds are prohibited from using cycle lanes anyway and therefore shouldn't be mentioned on this sign at all, this sign sends ... [more]
Drains in Mill Road being treated by a new process that involves steam cleaning - looks quite dramatic.

The roadworks here were initiated to fix a broken sewer - but may drag on for many weeks as it turns out that the problem is caused by a 'concrete chamber' - http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Home/Chamber-of-secrets-at-site-of-sewer-work.htm
Temporary traffic signals on Kings Hedges Road. Taken 11 October 2010, but they were still there this morning (20 October). Location approximate; sorry about the poor quality.
A rather distant view of the construction of the guided busway at Trumpington P&R. Location approximate.
Owing to the construction of a biomedical w/n [the Laboratory of Molecular Biology], diversionary measures are in place along the Trumpington-Addenbrooke's cycleway.
Cycleway works, continuing next to Hauxton Road. The attack angle for the newly-laid cycleway is too sharp, and the old path is wider than the new.
Why does it take so long to get things fixed here?? 2) barriers missing for many weeks. [FINALLY fixed 12 Jan 2011 - see #27711 ]
Why does it take so long to get things fixed here?? 1) barriers missing for many weeks (the lights got replaced quickly)
Cyclists cycling close to the kerb invite motorists to overtake where, during the construction work there is too little width to make it safe. Taxi AE04 HWP is intimidating a cyclist close to railings.
One-way traffic through Hills Road bridge roadworks (naturally cyclists go to the front of the queue and the cars then have to follow them).
A narrow lane for cyclists has now been created by the sewer repairs on Pembroke Street.
'Cyclists Please Dismount' sign at closure due to collapsed sewer. In fact there are dropped kerbs at both ends on the south side so cyclists do ride through when the coast is clear.
Access to Clay Farm development from Shelford Road. New roads being built. View to Addenbrookes Hospital.
