See video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYnclvBAkDg The car was a little irritating and only caused a slight jam of the brakes. The cyclist that followed without looking (you just catch the front wheel in the clip) caused considerabl ... [more]
See video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DPaR95Gi84 This roundabout is really quite awkward for cyclists. The cycle path takes cyclists all the way round the edge (ceding right of way 3 times just to go straight on). It irritates me ... [more]
See video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qy7k7QO0cYM Okay, this time it's me that gets into a bit of a mess. Often the right turn at the end of Brooklands Avenue is full of traffic whilst the left turn has had a green light for so ... [more]
A bus on full steering lock turns from Jesus Lane into Bridge Street - and displays the guidewheel. (In this photo the bus is moving towards the right of the picture.)
Photos from a ride on The Busway. From this angle the guidewheel does seem to protrude a rather long way. Here the wheel is a full lock as the bus would be making a sharp turn.
Photos from a ride on The Busway. The delighted and excited faces of children greeting the passing bus is a common sight along the busway at the moment.
See video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMufMkPcQOs Hmm, this is probably one of the worst examples of complete lack of control over animals. The person walking towards me sees me, then completely ignores the fact that their animals ... [more]
See video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i37yF_HUNiQ As I approach along this shared path, I spot the dog and scrub off speed to make sure I'm not threatening it or putting myself at risk of crashing. The dog owner clearly couldn't ca ... [more]
See video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doUolf0X0o0 This pedestrian shows wonderful control of their dog, not. He's wondering along with headphones in, not looking out for his animal or anyone else using the path. I slow, as it my ... [more]
See video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kG3filiT83o As you can see this is not a very friendly environment. Notice cars pulling across me at the last moment. I'm a confident rider, if you are anything else, I can't see you riding her ... [more]
The blackbirds nested in the shrubbery above the cycle parking outside the Department of Zoology. Here the adult is feeding its large youngster at the back of the bike shed.
Are they really selling off the cycle bridge? Nothing on their website, must be round the corner...
About 300 bicycles parked in the remote and not overly convenient designated bike parking area next to the Devil's Dyke, nr Reach.
Sheila Stuart, Mayor of Cambridge on the Reach Fair Ride 2011. Note the gold chain around her neck is a gold coloured bicycle chain, and not the official ceremonial chain, which can be seen at #30539.

Even though the bridge isn't right you can see what the new cycleway along the Tins will look like now
Even though it wasn't constructed properly, the lifting of the bridge gives a good impression of what the new cycleway will look like at The Tins
Tins Bridge turns out to be too long - or more likely, the abutments weren't put in correctly. They'll have to take out some big chunks of reinforced concrete and re-lay them, then try again. All fixed in #30171.
This is the pavement looking towards Cambridge in Fen Ditton - but its not completely clear whether this is bit is shared use.
Babraham Hall - once home to Humphrey Lyttleton's grandfather, now a biotech research centre.
Diversion sign on signpost at the junction of Brookfields, Burnside and The Tins. The Tins is closed for reconstruction.
The capacity of Grand Arcade cycle park is around the 200 mark. During most of the day, it's difficult to find a space (especially if you've got an awkward bike like me); this photo was taken at about half seven in the evening; compare with ... [more]
Busway changes here from guided to not guided beyond the pedestriam crossing. Maintenance track/cycle path on the left is a permissive path, not a public right of way.

New red surfacing and logos mark the approach to the path link between the end of Roxborough Rd (cul-de-sac) and Arbury Rd. The colouring is quite subtle, not providing a particularly strong contrast with the surrounding tarmac, but unli ... [more]

Mr/s Cat starts off well by suggesting that s/he will "operate [zir motor vehicle] with a greater duty of care" but then slaps conditions on s/his promise. We've all heard these lines before and Martin (one of the main CycleStreets guys) is ... [more]
"[T]hey should be made to use it somehow" isn't a sensible route to go down; it should be the (non-)user's choice whether to use a piece of infrastructure. Perhaps Cambridge Cycling Campaign could arrange an investigative group ride for Ms ... [more]
Trying the CycleStreets app out on an iPad - in this case the photomap - which works pleasingly well.
Unusually clear view of the Mill near the railway station. This building is considered historic. I think it is rather ugly and gives developers in the station area licence to make their buildings as tall as it is.
