Totally selfish car parking.

East Road, 8 March 2007, 3:25 pm. Number plate N146 KVG, reported to police with reference 423. On this occasion the car was on the double yellow line.

Cars are allowed to park Mon-Sat daytime for 30 min in this lay-by on East Road. This car was reported for invading the MCL to police tel. 08454564564 [#8157] on 1 Mar 2007 at 3:15 pm and at 5.41 pm again.

A ridiculous situation in Regent Terrace. Supposed to be a main walking and cycling route to the centre from the Station area, this is in fact a dangerous and hostile car park.

Police vehicle obstructing cycle lane (for number plate AE05 LKZ see also #17438)

Cycling on Lensfield Road is difficult due to the parking spaces.

We've had reports that on the weekends in the run-up to Christmas this area is totally swamped with vehicles trying to avoid city centre car parking charges.

Wherever there is space, cars will squeeze in - often blocking each other in. Traffic wardens will not ticket a vehicle unless it completely obstructs the footpath or is on double yellow lines. As these vehicles are not on the "Road" they a ... [more]

This car parking must all go if the new Addenbrooke's car park is approved

This formerly no-car-parking, cycle-friendly development is now turning into an ugly, unregulated car park.

This formerly no-car-parking, cycle-friendly development is now turning into an ugly, unregulated car park. Note how the child on a bike is now on the pavement, presumably because the cars are now in the way.

Some of the many cars parked on double yellow lines along here - these two blocking access to the pedestrian / push-chair / wheelchair / cycle route, and restricting the visibility of children emerging from the nearby playing field. Afte ... [more]

Looks like the drivers of these cars think they can get away with the double yellow line violation by parking right on the verge. After reporting this to County's Parking Services I'm told these double yellow lines are not on the public ... [more]

Shows the typical scene on Regent Terrace on a Sunday when the parking restriction is not in place. See also #31762 where it is suggested that more cycle parking is needed here. As a cyclist, that would make it easier to use this route.

Removal of parking: people seem to cope. It's time this was permanent here.

Space left for pedestrians after it has been stolen by parked cars on Milton Road is tiny, and surely would be impassable by a wheelchair

St Matthew's Garden development: cars blocking the pedestrian crossing point

Attractive cycle-friendly estate now seems to be turning into a car park now that private no parking signs have been removed. Yellow lines needed before this becomes endemic.

Scandalous that this parking, which causes an obstruction to buses, cycles and other traffic becomes free during the rush hour at 5pm!

Thoughtless car parking on St Matthew's estate: two cars on the pavement, the first right over the pedestrian crossing dropped kerb

The St Matthew's development off York Street may be a flash point for clamping but even legal parking should be considerate; in this common case the pedestrian desire line is being blocked a little. Should be proper yellow lines.

Surface-dressed in August 2010, but double yellow lines not repainted. With the parked cars, the road is only just wide enough for two cars to pass - I don't think buses would make it. Note that both the white van and the third car are ille ... [more]

Asham Road, looking towards the main entrance of Milton Road Junior School.

Within the first two minutes, this is the tenth cyclist having to swirl into the main motor lane past this obstruction. In this 4 min series: #21515, #21517, #21518, #21519.

Car partly obstructing the cycle lane on Gilbert Road, a few hundred yards west of Chesterton Community College. In this 5 min journey along Gilbert Road from Guerney Way to Histon Road: #21506, #21508, #21509.

One pupil's safety is another pupils' risk. Car stopped right on the "END" sign of the cycle lane "to be legal". Other pupils have to cycle around the car into the main lane at an accident hot spot.

Many pupils cycle from Guerney Way to Chesterton Community College on the pavement. Coming from Milton Road / Guerney way, the only safe crossing is at the school gate.

Another example of selfish parking on Kingston Street. The pavement is totally blocked, forcing a mother to push her child down the middle of the road.

Car park on Parkers' Piece due to Cambridge On Ice - what a total eyesore.

Economic value of parking spaces in Petersfield; demonstrates how free parking in the area is a bargain and puts complaints about lack of space in context

For a second day, parked with room for bikes to pass on both sides. As Woody Allen said to Annie Hall, 'it's fine, I can take a cab to the sidewalk!'.

Very kind of this driver to park leaving space for cyclists to pass on both sides.

Lorries unloading on Mill Road already cause danger and delays.

Deliveries on Mill Road cause a blockage. However, there is probably little alternative given the layout of the streets. It is essential that any new planning permissions allocate off-street delivery areas.
