¿ What is it with cycle ways in Cambridge that motorists confuse them with car parks ?
After reporting the obstruction caused by cars on the MCL to the police several times, I have noticed an improvement during the past few days in that cars only invade the MCL, without blocking it completely.
Cars are allowed to park Mon-Sat daytime for 30 min in this lay-by on East Road, which is designated on our Traffic Regulation Orders and by signage on site as a maximum waiting parking place. This one invades the MCL and stands on the "cyc ... [more]

Is Cambridge City Council's electric Street Scene vehicle allowed to park on double yellow lines?
An already narrow path (which may be shared-use here) further restricted. There is a dropped kerb here, so it may be an entrance.
Scandalous that this parking, which causes an obstruction to buses, cycles and other traffic becomes free during the rush hour at 5pm!

The St Matthew's development off York Street may be a flash point for clamping but even legal parking should be considerate; in this common case the pedestrian desire line is being blocked a little. Should be proper yellow lines.
Surface-dressed in August 2010, but double yellow lines not repainted. With the parked cars, the road is only just wide enough for two cars to pass - I don't think buses would make it. Note that both the white van and the third car are ille ... [more]
