Highway Code Rule 240 (backed up in law)
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_069860
You MUST NOT stop or park on a tram or cycle lane

What is particularly irritating is that there is so much offroad space here. So why on earth risk other's life by this lazy, selfish behaviour?

A Really Good Pass!

0:01 Car approaches from behind but can't see so hangs well back.
0:05 I can see and indicate for car to pass
0:09 Driver can see
0:11 Driver passes according to Highway Code 163

By hanging well back the driver is not harrassing me. Harrassment can lead to accidents as cyclists get scared they are about to be hit. Because I can hear the driver taking my life seriously, I try my best to help them pass, so signal a lot earlier than the driver can see. The driver does hold back still but is aware that they can pass so readys themselves. As they pass sensibly, I give a thumbs up and they wave back. Thus there are two road users happy, relaxed, unstressed human beings. Had there been a rush to pass, the result would have saved a second or so and two grumpy, stressed, unpleasant human beings. Which is better, eh?

But also speeding. All pointlessly since I caught up with them by the next lights.

And caught later pavement parking on double yellows.

Regarding the shared path, can I remind you of the advise from the Department of Transport (http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/+/http://www.dft.gov.uk/consultations/archive/2004/ltnwc/annexdcodeofconductnoticefor1688) which tells me I should not use it at my speed. I'm sure the pedestrians would agree with that, and I'd like to protect them too.

I haven't put one of these up recently, so I thought it time.

This street clearly has very little space. As a lorry approaches he slows down and tries to make as much room on my side of the road.

As good as that is, it's still pretty scary and I've already decided to pull over. There's no point here trying to play chicken with a good few tons!

I pull into a spot and track stand whilst he speeds up, flashes and waves in thanks, and I move off after he's passed. This slowed me by a few seconds, him by a few seconds and a good example of two transport types learning to share the road.

Thanks driver, very good interaction and much appreciated both the care and the thanks.

Of course all the drivers that don't like this criticism will jump at the cyclist who goes through the red light. This is the one I saw today, compared to 5 motor vehicles misbehaving, 2 seriously. Drivers are 13 times more likely to be at fault in a collision than a cyclist. Also note that several organisations are calling for left turning cyclists to be allowed at lights in certain circumstances, because of how little danger it causes.
