![]() | Wonderful Agenda Magazine front cover October 2002. Sadly they lost the plot a few years later when they decided that all cyclists should be wearing helmets. | Other: Event ![]()
![]() | Article about 'sex and cycling' from the May 2004 issue of Agenda. Its hard to believe they really wrote this stuff. Point 5 talks about "The bicycling 'moment'": "If you're having one of these, young lady, you need to change the angle of the saddle." I want one of those, which angle? | Other: Event ![]()
![]() | Agenda Magazine from May 2004 The basic stuff in this article seems to do the rounds in the cycling press from time to time. Based on some dubious medical notion that the cycling action has an effect - good or bad - on a rider's reproductive function. They've tried to sensationalise it here by highlighting medical names for parts of the human body. See also #22090, unless you've got something better to do. | Other: Event ![]()
![]() | Agenda Magazine May 2004 had a (terrible) article on 'The secrets of sex and cycling' - there aren't any! | Other: Event ![]()
![]() | Closed again. Evidently over the weekend a motor vehicle has crashed into the rising bollard here and shed oil over the road. I was forced to use the unsatisfactory cycle bypass for the first time! | Road environment: Problem ![]()

![]() | Byway from Melbourn to the A10 and Royston | Cycleway: Infrastructure ![]()
![]() | The cycle track north from Royston by the A10 (on the far side of the road) ends here, but there's no easy way across to the byway to Melbourn, and thence by quiet roads to Cambridge. If it went a couple of hundred yards further it would link to a better route to Melbourn on the Icknield Way. | Cycleway: Problem ![]()
![]() | This is the 'provision for lesser vehicles' mentioned by Kevin Steinhardt in the CCyC newsletter of April/May 2010 - it's clearly aimed at horse-riders but might be of use to a few mountain-bikers. | Road environment: Infrastructure ![]()

![]() | Cycle parking exactly where it should be - right outside the front door of the pub. Well done to the Plough in Coton for this ... and for the additional cycle racks at the rear. http://www.theploughcoton.co.uk/ | Cycle parking: Good practice ![]()

![]() | Cycle shed at the Sepia development - a simple latch on the door rather than a swipe card which you might expect in a classy development like this. | Cycle parking: Infrastructure ![]()
![]() | The Sepia site, next to CUP - a typical upmarket development with cars out and proud in front of the front doors, and bikes hidden away out of sight. | Road environment: Problem ![]()
![]() | A very slanty image of a lorry -- doing some things that aren't too clever and are illegal/unlawful/immoral. MX08 CZE; as he pulled up onto the pavement (note: the empty loading bay to the left of the bike stands), I had a quick chat with him involving quite a lot of pointing at signs, road markings, kerb markings, his vehicle, signs, &c. He caught up with me later on, after he'd delivered his goods for the "five minutes", as he'd promised me -- "I hope you go die"; such nice behaviour from a fellow human. (I don't see why we can all just get along) | Enforcement: Problem ![]()
![]() | This path ain't big enough for the both of us? | General sign/notice: Event ![]()

![]() | Lammas Land is in a sorry state - being a dead end for motorised traffic it is presumably very low priority for repairs, despite being the main cycle route from Newnham to the station and Addenbrooke's. | Pothole: Problem ![]()
![]() | Could somebody please stop vandalising our cycle route signs! | Route sign: Problem ![]()

![]() | Equipment is being gathered, but this cycle lane has had pedestrians in it for a couple of weeks now. | Obstruction: Problem ![]()
![]() | These used to be harsh 'low' kerbs, over this 'ere service road. Thanks to some thought, the ride of some cyclists (those cyclists using the shared-use path at the moment in space) have a couple of metres of smooth running; not that I'm being ungrateful or anything, I'm just being a bit ungrateful. Keep up the niggle-fixin', Cambs CC. | Cycleway: Good practice ![]()

![]() | Unenforced restriction: This was filmed during the period of the cycling restriction on Burleigh Street. The PCSO (Police Community Safety Officer) at left seems oblivious to the cyclists who pass quite close to him. Notice also the circuitous route that the cyclist follows to avoid conflict with walkers. | Road environment: Infrastructure ![]()

![]() | Failure of design. This once lovely cycle-path has been spoiled by these chicanes. Any danger that is here is surely due to the parked cars immediately either side of the junction with the road. But that issue hasn't been addressed. See also #13721. | Obstruction: Problem ![]()
![]() | Annoying to see these one-way systems on this university site when two-way cycling could easily be accommodated. http://cambridge.cyclestreets.net/galleries/41/ | General sign/notice: Problem ![]()

![]() | Leaflets have arrived for the Reach Fair bike ride. There are 10,000 here, arrived in five boxes weighing a total of 59kg. Each leaflet is 2/3 of A4 and printed on 130 gsm paper. Doing the maths for this... (A4 is 1/16 th of a square metre.) 10,000 * 2/3 * 1/16 * 0.13 = 54 kg. (ignores the weight of the cardboard, sticky tape and ink). Hmmm, that implies that there are about 10% more leaflets. http://twitter.com/#search?q=ReachRide | General sign/notice: Event ![]()

![]() | Nice cycle lane, pitty about the cars parking in it. This 4x4 is a regular menace which has appeared in the CCyC newsletter. See also #11111 and #21513. | Cycleway: Problem ![]()
![]() | Many pupils cycle from Guerney Way to Chesterton Community College on the pavement. Coming from Milton Road / Guerney way, the only safe crossing is at the school gate. | Car parking: Problem ![]()
![]() | One pupil's safety is another pupils' risk. Car stopped right on the "END" sign of the cycle lane "to be legal". Other pupils have to cycle around the car into the main lane at an accident hot spot. | Car parking: Problem ![]()
