The sign for drivers says "Assen 16 / Groningen 14 / Zuidlaren 9". The bike route sign says "Assen 15 / Groningen 12 / Zuidlaren 8". It is almost always the case that cycle routes are more direct than driving routes.

No private cars are allowed across Oakington airfield, but it's widely abused. This route is part of NCN51.
The path from Gough Way to Cranmer Road has to be closed for a day every year to prevent it being claimed as a right of way. In fact the gate was open and the path could be used.
