Mandatory Cycle Lane on East Road. Car parking on lay-by invades MCL with rear wheel right on top of the bicycle painted on the floor. This is the part where bicycle remerge onto the road from the pavement. The obstructing car (number plate ... [more]
East Road. Cyclists leaving the subway cycleway bypass round the Newmarket Rd roundabout have to stear around street furniture. This rainy day Mr Mondeo took care of blocking the dropped kerb, despite of the big bicycle painted right in fro ... [more]
Hand over all your carrots if you want to get through! (The National Trust's Konig ponies are supposed to be wild, but they're getting street-wise.)
Dismounting on a cycleway. For drivers this is the equivalent of having to get out of your car and push! This obstruction badly lets down the Cambridge South East Cycle Route - which was built in the early 1990s as an alternative the the b ... [more]
This cycle path is being resurfaced so one lane of the road has been taken from drivers as a temporary cycle path while works continue. Note that there is also a cycle path on the opposite side of the road, but cyclists are not told to c ... [more]
Roadworks sign - was anyone aware that this is a contraflow cycle lane, so cyclists are now forced into the path of oncoming taxis from the station, SUVs from St Mary's school etc ?
Garbage collection - there's barely enough room to get past this city council refuse vehicle.
Awkward pram-handles removed after complaints over several years by the Campaign - success! This junction point is now much easier to pass for both cyclists and walkers. Compare with before: #9023
Over-grown bypass lane on 60mph section of road! The Fulbourn 30mph zone should be extended beyond the pinch-point, and the bypass lane kept clear. Reported to County Council.
The dis-used bus stop is too narrow, cars park on the pavement with one side and obstruct the mandatory cycle lane on the other. This picture was taken on day two after Ian Greasley forwarded message to the "Local Authority Parking Enforcem ... [more]
Interesting and perhaps clever use of bollards to slow down cyclists at a busy entrance to the Sedgwick Site from West Road. You can still cycle through but have to wiggle, which slows you down enough, but not too much to be a pain. But the ... [more]
Don't try this with a trailerbike. There are a total of five of these barriers, plus five 90 degree bends and a 180 degree bend on the "cycle" bridge over the A1 at Tempsford.
Cyclists forced into the path of traffic by this sign. It reads "Coronation Street Closed".
Pram arms on the cycleway (note the cycle symbol on the ground and the directional signage in the distance.)
Pram arms on bollards, and then a fence. They really don't want you to get past here, and the graffiti says "Time to die".
Beware, the drop kerb has been moved, but following the white lines would take you straight into a 10cm tall kerb edge
Revolution are at it again. Staff think it is funny when someone complains at the illegal, dangerous and obstructive unloading
Hobson Street closed at North End due to collapsed sewer. One has to walk the bike along the pavement to get past the works.
Hobson Street is closed a little bit further on from here due to a collapsed sewer. No Entry signs covered up.
After three months work, Elmbridge Council is still installing cycle-crushing barriers!
Memo to self - do not call for a fire engine when the Newnham Croft school pick-up combines with the permanent jam of builders' vans to block the roads. It's not as if there weren't parking spaces around the corner.
'Firepath' road closure just south of Ibrox stadium (a Glasgow feature, it seems) - why not add a couple of drop kerbs for bikes?
Large van illegally stopped in the hashed area, blocking all the traffic behind it. A sight arguably more common here than cyclists going through red lights.
Removal of guard-railing here is a great improvement at a difficult corner for cyclists: it effectively increases the usable road width by half a metre.
Council 'City Rangers' van obstructs the railway/guided bus underpass on Milton Road (NCN11).
Cambridge's new million-pound clock is causing problems for cyclists and pedestrians on Benet Street.
Gate opened in order to allow a car in, further round to the left. This makes getting through this area much easier. Could this be done more often?
Motorists overtaking cyclists as they turn right out of the Science Park onto Milton Road are often surprised to find this piece of concrete (the near one in the picture) directly in their path. Cyclists should adopt primary lane position h ... [more]
Dangerous and illegal parking is very common. Turning into the contraflow cycle lane on Mawson Road leaves the cyclist stuck between oncoming cars on Mill Road and Mawson Road
This chicane arrangement (on the Tins path route) is poor, and should be replaced with a raised crossing with cycle priority.
This crossing needs to be upgraded to a proper toucan and all the guard-railing removed.
Bollards and a chicane - should all be replaced by one or possibly two small bollards to stop vehicles coming in.
An obstruction on the cycle path... actors putting on a show. This was part of a free to enter "cycling and culture" ride organised by the local council. You can see a video of this here: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4gob1PEdGsY
The sign reads "Take Care. Cyclists in the bus lane" Cyclists are never expected to share space with buses in the Netherlands, but in this case the cycle path is being resurfaced so cyclists have to use the bus lane. However, buses were ... [more]
Bike lane is now a convenient parking bay for taxis. Parking is not enforced since the red tarmac obscures the double yellow lines. Police can't be bothered to enforce the statutory bike lane.
Taxis parked on the cycle contraflow on Mawson Road. The blue one was still there two hours later.
Taxi parked on the cycle contraflow on Mawson Road - whilst driver was presumably in the kebab shop on the corner.
