Regent St Crossing. At the corner of Parkers Piece. This crossing allows cyclists approaching from the commonto join the road.
This is a PARALLEL crossing, not a toucan, with seperate crossings for pedestrians and cyclists side by side. One consequence of this is that DfT regulations insist on a turning ban towards the pedestrian part of the crossing. As can be seen, this is not observed, not enforced and does not appear to cause any problems.
The same cannot be said for the van which can be seen blocking the pedestrian crossing, forcing pedestrians to use the cycle side, in the same way that they would at a Toucan.
Buried induction loops detect the presence of cyclists approaching this crossing.
This crossing has nearside and farside crossing indicators, as a road junction.
