I thought I would share what I just learned about a handicapped cycling program in my backyard...Berkeley, California, USA.
http://www.borp.org
They operate a handicapped cycling program from a barn adjacent to the San Francisco Bay Trail, and provide a terrific collection of trike handcycles of all sorts, plus tandems.
My 90 year old father rides a Catrike with Bionx assist when we go on weekend rides together. I ride my own Catrike. Neither of us are handicapped, but his trike is the only way he can get 12-14 miles of exercise and scenery, so it's a huge mobility-enhancement. We've never witnessed any conflicts between regular bikers and any trikers.
