Online mapping: Help

Features and Bugs

The subsections below chart the future development of this tool.

Known Bugs

We are aware of the following problems and we hope to fix them soon.

  1. No known critical problems at this time.

Planned

The intention is to develop these features:

  1. No immediate commitments - bug fixing and performance improvements only.
  2. Improved roadworks reporting - to make it easier for users to add roadworks to the system. Although users can do this already by attaching schedules to paths, the method is a bit opaque.

Proposed

No decision yet on whether to include these features. There is a bigger list of mostly technical enhancement requests, but, we welcome your input via the feedback page.

  1. Personal Safety: take into account routes where there is a perception of danger

Initial release on Camcycle 27 Jun 2006 at 3:16am. Evolved from Cycle Route Planner "Classic edition" (September 2005) which ran on a private website. Prior to that it was a bunch of macros in a spreadsheet package (MS Excel & visual basic). Since then it has been developed on both MS Windows and GNU/Linux platforms using Emacs, and a LAMP server. Other technologies used include OpenStreetMap, flowplayer, ffmpeg, atom feeds, ajax, the GIMP, subversion, pureContent and ultimateForm.

Units of measurement

See rules and style conventions for the use of the SI and SI units writing style for conventions on labelling measurements.
