A superb example of why underpasses are hated, and such a bad solution to crossing a road. Thes obstructions are some of the most severe and hostile for both pedestrians and cyclists in Cambridge.
Surface broken up across the full width of this cycle lane in Bateman street. Cyclists have to leave the lane or suffer a jarring, spoke busting ride.

This is sadly typical of the congestion found in Trinity Street around 9am. Pedestrians and cyclists on their way to work and lectures struggle to squeeze by.
