This was redone (converted from a pedestrian crossing to a toucan crossing) in 2005 but contains a number of problems.
Red surfacing needed between the zig-zag lines, to assist right-turning cyclists. (The same is needed in the opposite direction.)

Cycle parking has still not been provided in this area, despite assurances and despite a lack of any official parking.
Kerb needs to be made flush. The current poor construction results in cyclists just using the pavement to the right of the pole.

There is no way for cyclists on East Road to get onto the crossing. This is the same problem that exists at Gonville Place. A dropped kerb should be provided.

We would like to see the relatively wide pavement along East Road, opposite the shops but on the west side, reduced in width slightly, in order to make an on-road lane. This would then ultimately enable a continuous cycle lane to be created ... [more]
