The dis-used bus stop was not designed as a car park. Signs indicate a car park where cars obstruct the pavement, the dropped kerb and the mandatory on-street cycle lane. This issue has been reported to the police and the "Local Authority Parking Enforcement" (LAPE) office at Cambridge City Council.
The infamous East Road layby - the new broken white line has helped but it was quickly worn away and infringements began again - now I see it's been repainted. Maybe it'll last longer this time!
After the council applied the little white lines far fewer cars are invading the MCL. Cyclist can now pass this lay-by faster, safer and more comfortably.

After writing several times to the authorities I still encounter cars obstructing this part pretty much every afternoon I pass Eastroad. The disused bus stop needs re-designing.

Tim asked: Are these for the benefit of cyclists? Simon says: Yes, I think they are. They are there to stop cars parking by this dropped kerb which is near the entrance to the ramp for the Elizabeth Way Subway.
