Gallery: Audley End station lifts
Fact-finding tour to see how well lifts would cope with lots of cyclists at Cambridge station.
This gallery was created on Friday, 9th July 2010.
8 people with bikes queueing to use the lifts at Audley End station. Before I took this photo I had to tell the man at the back of the queue to stand further away from the platform edge.
Squeezing into the lift - three bikes can just fit into the lift - if you weren't friends before, you soon will be.
When the lifts are out of action you have to carry your bike up and down the stairs. There are no channels or gutters, and this photo shows how steep the steps are and what a struggle it can be.
The bikes at Audley End can comfortably accommodate 1 bike and 1 wheelchair user. We were told that these lifts are turned off from 7pm.
