Gallery: All-Party Parliamentary Cycling Group visit to Cambridge, February 2010

This gallery was last updated on Friday 12th February 2010.

Members of the All-Party Parliamentary Cycling Group travelled to Cambridge on 11th February 2010 to see how cycling is done here. Here are some pictures and videos from the presentations (including one from Cambridge Cycling Campaign and CycleStreets) and the ride.

Launching some new covered cycle parking at a school in Arbury. See #20583. Martin talking about how the Cycling Campaign works to the All Party Parliamentary cycling group. Martin explains to the All Party Parliamentary Cycling group how we're getting cycling sorted in Cambridge. Mike explains the delivery of the Cycle Cambridge project to the All Party Parliamentary Cycling group.

The slide shows new bus advertising, with the slogan:

"Make Cycling your new year's resolution" A slide from the bikeability presentation showing how cycle training used to be delivered has children on a mock road environment on their bikes and scooters. One child is even playing the role of Policeman, directing the traffic.

Bikeability level … Presenting CycleStreets to a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Cycling group. Turning into Fisher Street New, covered secure cycle parking at a school, and not quite finished yet. It is in lilac and yellow to match the school's colours. At the Science Park stop on the busway.

One thing's for sure here - everyone's got an opinion about the merits of the Guided Bus system - especially some of the politicians in this group who have consistently voted against it! Riding with a big group along Brooklands Avenue Listening to plans for the new cycleway along New Bit. Patrick shows this slide, which is a Korean study of a Dutch hamlet. They used it as a good example of how to make places people and bike friendly. Martin talks about the cycling campaign's work (the 'pedestrian zone' in this clip) to the all party parliamentary cycling group.
