Donations
CycleStreets is a system run for cyclists by cyclists.
Donations will help us develop new features, pay for new server equipment to increase the speed of the system, and to improve functionality by paying for non-Free data sources (e.g. the Postcode Address File).
CycleStreets Ltd contains a not-for-profit clause in our governing document.
(PayPal will take a small cut of donations.)
Grant funding - can you help?
Grant funding from various sources such as environmental grants, Local Authorities and national organisations, will help us develop CycleStreets even further, more quickly.
Grants in the region of £5,000 - 20,000 would be enormously useful in getting various 'missing bits' in the list below implemented.
Please contact us if you think you might be able to help, or to have a chat further.
Ideas which we would like funding to implement are:
- Core developer funds, to cover a range of general tasks and ongoing improvements
- Annual server equipment and colo hosting costs (our excellent hosts are Mythic Beasts)
- Purchase of the Postcode (Postzon) database (which we believe ought to be public data), to enable better postcode searches, at a cost of £1,750 annually
- OpenID integration
- Adding the Specific routes feature (the lead developers used to organise Leisurely Rides, and we've long wanted a plotting facility for this!)
- Improvements to the photo/video addition system, including simpler multiple-photo addition
- Commenting system for photos and routes
- Local Authority reporting/updating mechanism
- Photo priority/obsoleting system
- Improving the gallery user interface
- iPhone app (and other mobile platforms)
- Roadwork data integration
