Gallery: Orchard Park Ring Fort Path

The County Council is developing proposals for improving cycle & pedestrian access across the A14/B1049 interchange. Funds (£485,000) are earmarked to replace the traffic lights at the crossing over the A14 slip roads on all four sides, including upgrading them to toucan crossings.

We propose to also add a shared-use path from the A14 crossing (southeastern side) alongside the A14 slip road behind the barriers and then into Ring Fort Road by the Premier Inn and Orchard Park school. This would make the journey to the local amenities quieter and about 570 m shorter.

"Ring Fort Path" will be a vast improvement for residents of the western area of Orchard Park wishing to travel to for example the Holiday Inn Lakeview hotel (e.g. health club), IVC & the Sports Centre, Histon FC, Histon & Impington Recreation ground and the offices at Vision Park. For example, the distance from the Premier Inn Hotel to offices at Vision Park would be reduced to well below 1 mile.

The County Council is consulting on the route options for Ring Fort Path with a short questionnaire at http://iitm.be/RingFortConsult Please add your voice!
